We took a family day on Saturday when we drove to Ninilchik, AK to watch the start of a dog sled race. It was a gorgeous day! The sun was bright and the temps were in the 20’s. My older children and I positioned ourselves away from the starting line to capture photographs without the crowd in the background. I included a few photos of the race below. It was neat to see how passionately those dogs love to run. They could barely contain themselves waiting for their turn.
The race, Tustemena 200, is a 200 mile race through an area known as Caribou Hills.
On Sunday afternoon the older children and I took a small hike on a nearby trail and found a beautiful view overlooking the Kenai River. I have included several photos of that as well.
